What is a prolotherapy injection and what is it for?

Prolotherapy is an injection of concentrated glucose that irritates the tissue at the injection site and stimulates inflammation, starting the process of repairing the tissue so that it is healthy again. At our clinic, injections are performed by experienced specialist physicians under diagnostic ultrasound guidance, so the injection reaches exactly the right spot. This makes the treatment effective, precise and very safe.

Who and which conditions is prolotherapy suitable for?

- Chronic injuries or inflammation of the muscles, tendons or ligaments, such as chronic muscle pain or tendinitis

- Joint inflammation or degeneration

Advantages of prolotherapy

Harmful side effects are less likely than with other treatments such as steroid injections.

Contraindications and precautions

- Infection at the injection site

- Gouty arthritis

- Bleeding disorders, or taking anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medication

(This treatment should not be used for the conditions above, as it may make the inflammation worse, or the injection may cause bleeding that does not stop or is hard to stop.)

If I have diabetes, can I have the injection?
How will it affect me?

Yes, you can, because the amount of glucose used in prolotherapy is not large enough to affect your blood sugar level or your HbA1c (average blood sugar).

As you can see, our clinic offers several types of injection, each with different indications depending on the patient's condition and symptoms. In every case, the doctor will examine you and recommend the most suitable treatment, for the best possible results and a good quality of life for every patient.
